Rosella’s Vineyard: Our Home Ranch, Our Heart

The very first vineyard we planted is Rosella’s Vineyard. Named after Rosella Franscioni, wife, mother and life of the party, Rosella’s Vineyard surrounds our home on a piece
of land that has been in the family for 100 years. It’s fitting, as our lives have always revolved around her.

Rosella came to the Salinas Valley from a little town in Durango, Mexico when she was six. She fondly recalls her childhood there, with the countryside as her playground and nature as her treasured toys. She has always felt right at home in the Santa Lucia Highlands and appreciates the connection to farming and the Mexican culture that is part of the life in the Salinas Valley. She’s proud that her family comes together around her Mexican cooking, the traditions she learned from her mother and the wine they produce
together.

For Rosella, the best part of growing grapes and making wine how it brings her family together. With both her sons Nick and Adam, and daughter-in-law Tamara a part of ROAR, for our family, wine is a bond.

Rosella’s is where ROAR was born. Planted in 1996, the vineyard slopes up the hill from River Road to 450 feet of elevation. Rosella’s is consistently the last site we harvest as its proximity to the Monterey Bay ensures cooler temperatures, and more fog and wind- swept afternoons. The wines from Rosella’s show a somewhat delicate, feminine structure and no shortage of enticing aromatics and thrills.
